We’ve been keeping a little bit of a secret. Well, we just haven’t told anyone but family, but this past week we moved. These past few months have been an emotional and physically draining whirlwind, but we’ve finally moved.
If you haven’t noticed in several of my previous posts I’ve talked about my husband working in Houston, well he’s been working there since July. I stayed back home at our house in North Fort Worth to get our house packed and get it on the market. Mason and I have been traveling back and forth, a lot. It’s a lot for a kid to travel in a car that often, but he’s been a trooper.
We’ve made lots of stops at Bucee’s and he loves Bucee’s. Here are just a few of his obligatory Bucee’s photos
We’ve had to handle and deal with quite a bit more than most due to previously planned engagements prior to him taking a job offer. I traveled to California, so Jeff had to travel back to Ft. Worth to take care of Mason.
Mason started a new school and then 5 days later Hurricane Harvey hit, so I left with Mason back to our home in Ft. Worth (since it was still fully furnished and on the market) because I refused to stay behind in unknown conditions with a 3 year old. Thank God I left!
Then the following week after Harvey (of which it landed on Friday and rained for 5 days) we had our already planned family reunion in Concan for 4 days, so Mason and I traveled alone and Jeff met us there. After Concan we traveled back to Ft. Worth to gather a few things and then the next traveled again back to Houston so Mason could get back to school.
The next several weeks after that were pretty trying! We literally were living out of a suitcase in a hotel with a 3 year old and 2 dogs. It was just crazy! It’s a good thing we all like each other, ha! Anyway the first offer we had on a house fell thru because it did not appraise and the owners did not want to lower their asking price, and we weren’t paying more than appraisal value. Finally, the second house we put an offer in on happened and we finally closed. The buying a used home process was a little irritating and to be honest I don’t think I’ll ever do it again. My husband and I have built, purchased and sold 3 homes. I love that I get to build it up how I want it and that it’s all new, but mostly I love that you don’t really ever have to worry about negotiating or appraisals (for the most part).
Our new home is older, but we plan on changing a few things starting with having the entire house painted, so we’ll be living out of suitcase for another week. We are so ready for some normalcy. Despite some of the set backs and challenges, it all worked out. I’m so thankful for his blessings and how He always has the perfect timing!
For the past 11 years we called DFW home. We ended one journey and began another. This is our 3rd major city together for my husband and I. We grew so much in DFW and leaving is bittersweet. The thing I’ll miss most about DFW are those who we call our friends. They made that city extra special for the past 11 years. Until we meet again, friends!
