I first heard about a Day Out with Thomas shortly after my son was born. It was then that I knew someday I would take him to this cool event. So, fast forward 2 years and here we are. This past weekend we took him to see Thomas the Train. I’ve said it before, and I can’t say it enough, he is obsessed with trains, any train. Not just Thomas.
I first asked him about a month ago if he wanted to go for a ride on Thomas the Train. Of course he said yes. Epic mom fail on my part was asking him so early about it, because he asked about going for a ride on Thomas for about 3 days. After he forgot about it, I didn’t mention it again until the day before. He was so looking forward to it, and the price on his face when he saw that giant train coming our way was priceless and I’m so glad I got to capture it too.
Our train was scheduled to depart at 4:30pm, and we were instructed to arrive at least an hour before our departure time and that we did. Arriving early was a good thing because we got to enjoy some of the many other activities that were going on too. One of the many things that they had there was this this giant train display table. Mason loved everything about it.
Every activity had a wait line. Not good for a 2 year-old. The longest line was to take pictures with Sir Topham Hatt. Way longer than I was willing to wait since we had to make sure we were at the train station by 4:00pm. The shortest line was the petting zoo so we got in line and waited about 10 minutes too long. . When I asked Mason if he wanted to pet the animals, he surprisingly said yes. He doesn’t usually jump on these types of opportunities.
After the petting zoo, it was pretty close to 4:00pm so we headed to the train station to board the train. We waited for the train to arrive which took about 30 minutes. I’m so glad that I captured this picture of Mason. This was his reaction to seeing Thomas the Train coming on the tracks.
This is what he saw!
So cool to see this giant Thomas the Train.
Waving hi to Thomas.
At this point we had already got on the train and were waiting for it to leave so we could enjoy the train ride. This is Mason looking at his boarding ticket.
We had a short 30 minute train ride on Thomas. They played fun Thomas songs that you hear on the shows. Mason was singing along too. They even had a conductor walk around and stamp their tickets. Mason was in awe! This picture was the best that I could get next to Thomas, because if you can’t tell from this picture, there was line for that too and I refused to wait. People were waiting in line to have their picture taken with Thomas by a staff member. I would have wanted my own photo, not theirs.
Mason really enjoyed this fun event and I would recommend it for any parents with kids who love trains, especially Thomas and any of his friends. If you’re in the DFW area hurry and buy your tickets the event ends this weekend and it’s your last opportunity to see him.
Adios, Thomas! Until next time!
