Mason-Week 1

November 14, 2013

Wow, I can’t believe I have a ONE week new baby boy!  3 out of the first 7 days of your life were spent in the hospital. You were born on a Thursday and we didn’t get to come home until Monday. Mommy was so ready to come home, because, there is nothing like being in the comfort of your own home. When we brought you home, Max and Houdini weren’t quite sure what to think of you. Max even wanted to sleep in your rock and play. I’m sure they feel like they’ve been replaced, but little do they know that they have a new person to play with and I know that you’ll love them to pieces one day!
Being a parent to a newborn is hard work, but nothing that I would trade for the world. Mommy had a lot of help this week from grandma. She’ll be here for 2 weeks to help mommy, I am so thankful. She is a great mom and I’m sure that she’ll be an even better grandma. Oh my sweet boy how much you are loved is indescribable! We tried to get into a routine, as much as you can with a newborn, so I nursed you every 3 hours. You are great sleeper and often times I have to wake you up to nurse, but you nurse without any issues. Mommy would feed you and then grandma would rock you to sleep. Since mommy can’t sleep in her own bed just yet (because it’s too hard to get in and out of) mommy is sleeping on the sofa with grandma on the other side of the sofa. You love to sleep in your rock and play, so for now (due to the inconvenience of me sleeping on the sofa) you are sleeping in there for naps and at night.

  • On Wednesday, your actual due date, mommy and daddy took you to your first visit with your pediatrician. She said that you were gaining excellent weight and that you were already weighing more than when you left the hospital.
  • You had your first “sponge” bath. You cried for the first few seconds and then you were fine.
  • You also napped in your portable crib for the first time. Not sure you liked that so much, because you didn’t sleep very long. We’ll keep trying.

You love to curl up and sleep on mommy’s chest/stomach like this. I’m sure this is how you used to sleep when you were in mommy’s tummy!

You definitely were not interested in taking any photos or with laying on your tummy!

What they say about love having a whole new meaning when you have children is true…I am in LOVE with you Mason Grey and I think that you are the cutest baby boy EVER! I feel like the luckiest mommy in the world. WE ARE BLESSED!
