A Look Back at 2019

December 29, 2019

2019 was another BIG year for our little family. I feel like our lives have been full of change over the past few years and 2019 wasn’t any different, but that’s okay because it’s always been good for us in someway or another.
Here is a recap of 2019 for the Cole family:

Our January’s are usually pretty slow so there wasn’t much that actually happened, but Mason did lose his first tooth.

Besides Valentine’s Day the biggest thing was happened was me cutting my hair short.

In March Jeff had a business trip to go on in Vegas so we took advantage of the time and decided to make a trip out of it. Mason stayed with my mom for the weekend and we enjoyed some time just the two of us. This was the start of our busy traveling for months to come.

In April we traveled to Dallas for my cousins wedding.

In May we traveled way more than we wanted too, but all for good reasons. First came Mother’s Day and then Mason’s Pre-K graduation. Still can’t believe I already have a kindergartener, almost a 1st grader.

The day of Mason’s graduation we headed to San Marcos because Elaine was graduating from college that Friday.

Two weekends later we traveled to Corpus for my cousins graduation. Whew! I’m exhausted just thinking about all of that, but this was also around the time that our house had to be picture ready to go up on the market. No one knew it yet, but were moving to Iowa. So also in May, there was a lot of cleaning up, decluttering, and remodeling of one of our bathrooms.

In June, we finally broke the news that we we moving. Jeff moved the first week of June and I was left to pack up the rest of our home and keep it clean for showings. Luckily we got an offer within the first 24 hours of the listing going live.

At the end of June we officially moved and headed to Iowa. This is what our townhome looked like with only a portion of our boxes. The rest is sitting in two storage rooms.

By July we were getting settled in Iowa and getting Mason ready for school, but we still made time for some fun and celebrated the 4th for the first time in Iowa.

August came and we decided to take a trip to Legoland in Florida before Mason started Kindergarten. Just what we needed, a 4 day trip to relax and just have some fun.

Shortly after we came back we celebrated my husbands 45th birthday, Mason started Kinder, and we also celebrated our 11th anniversary.

At the end of August/beginning of September we made our annual trip to Concan, TX to be with family. Too bad I can’t say it was uneventful, because that was far from the case, but we tried to make the most of our 4 days since we weren’t sure when we would see our family again.
In September I celebrated my 38th birthday by getting a new tattoo. I mean who doesn’t get a tattoo for their 38th birthday?! This simple quote meant more this year, than any other year. I’ve put my trust in the Lord with many, many things this past year. The Lord is good always. He will provide and He has shown up in so many big and wonderful ways this year.
In October we flew my mom to Iowa to spend grandparents day with Mason. We also experienced our first Iowa Hawkeyes game, our first real pumpkin patch, and our first snow in Iowa. Not to mention it was cold and the ground was covered in snow for Halloween. Also in October, Houdini had to have dental surgery and had all of his teeth removed. This was a tough one for this dog mom, but he recovered well and is doing great.

In November Mason turned 6 and that was the last of eventful things for us for 2019.
I started 2019 with my word of the year: “GRIT”
Grit is the perseverance and determination to continue despite difficulty or obstacles. If that word doesn’t sum up our year, I’m not sure what word would! We’re ready for 2020 and all of the greatness it’s going to bring.
